Easy Lineage 2 Adena Farming Tips

Starting with good Lineage 2 Adena farming tips early on the game will have its benefit long term.
You'll normally collect more adena if you were to hunt solo rather than grouped. The amount collected is usually less unless your character is really gimp and are unable to solo mobs on its own. Ideally you should target gree/blue con mobs. Although they give you much less SP they do provide a good amount of adena for the time you would take to kill them. Make sure the mobs you are farming are not too tough and that you do not have much downtime. If you are caster, assure that you're able to kill the mob with out having to use too much power. If you're a tank, try not to lose too much life or you will end up sitting majority of the time you are farming. Find areas where there are less players and is loaded with mobs. Having to wait for respawns can waste alot of time. You also do not want to run into too many players farming the same mobs as you, hence it'll reduce the amount of mobs for you to farm. Avoid using soulshots as well, they can cost alot of money and should only be used when you're in danger of dying.

There are some quests that are actually worth doing but here are some basic questing tips you should keep in mind while completing them. Always try to complete the quests that provides the highest amount of rewards for adena and/or offers a very valuable item. Always accept quests that involves killing alot of monsters. It helps you level along with some good loots from time to time. You can also combine certain quests if they are within the same area, being able to complete multiple quests within the same route is much better than completing them separately. Avoid traveling long distances because they take up alot of time, traveling time can be converted to farming time. Always keep a "scroll of escape" around. Good to use when in danger and good to save yourself time from traveling long distances.

There are many mobs that have good drops, but that doesn't mean you should solely focus all your time on them. Drop rates are by chance and chances are you will spend more time killing them for nothing than actually being able to get that specific item. However, if you are farming an area with a bunch of mobs and there are some with good drops you would of course choose to hunt those first before the rest.

Avoid buying from NPC merchants. They usually tend to cost more than buying from another player in the game. If you are planning to purchase a new set of equipment or any other item, buy them from Giran. Taxes there are only 10% and when you buy in large amounts you tend to save alot more. Do not sell off your loots immediately. Try to find the best bargen for them. Look around for players who are spamming "WTB...". They tend to offer a higher price than normal since they probably have important use of it. Private stores can be one of your biggest assets in the game. You can easily browse through a wide selection at various prices, although it may lag alot but sometimes it can be worth the time spent. You may also want to setup your own store as well when you want to sell off your items. Would be ideal when you go AFK for a long period of time or planning to go to sleep. Don't start your store and stare at the screen though, that's just silly and a waste of time. Avoid selling more than 3 items at a time, set price 5-10% below shop price. You should be able to get a good return within 1-2 hours.

If you have extra adenas laying around and you tend to travel a bit for whatever reason, you can be a traveling merchants. Getting to Giran can take a while and lot of players would rather not travel there to purchase stuff unless necessary. You can always buy a stock full of some items that are demanded within certain areas and sell them off at a higher rate than being sold at Giran. Arrows, healing potions and soulshots are commonly bought items throughout the game. Ideal to stock up a bit on those and setup a store in caves or where ever when you need to go AFK. From time to time if you know the market well enough, there are players who are in desperate need of adena and will sell their item at a much lower price than normal. You can easily buy that and resell later at a higher rate.

How to Earn Lots of Gold in World of Warcraft

World of warcraft, the most popular MMORPG to date, has just like any other fantasy based RPG its own currency exchange system.
The currency exchange works in WOW(world of warcraft), with three sets of coins, copper coins, and with a hundred copper coins it will equal one silver coin, with a hundred silver coins it will equal one gold coin. Now world of warcraft gold is what everybody needs to thrive, there is hardly any advancement without working your characters toon butt off on a WoW gold farming rampage, almost sounds like real life.

The difference from earning money in the real world and earning a living in world of warcraft is that in WOW you can bash someone’s head in and steal his money you won’t be put on charges, and in the game you chose whatever field you chose to go into. Yes in the game of world of warcraft you can pick and chose what job you’d like your avatar to specialize in and that is where a lot of the big cash comes in.

There are ten primary professions you can have alchemy, blacksmithing, enchanting, engineering, herbalism, mining, leatherworking, skinning, and tailoring. Now some of these professions go together with others such as mining and blacksmithing, you’ll need the metal the mining gives you to blacksmith with into weapons and armor.

There are three secondary professions which are first aid, cooking and fishing. You can learn all three of the secondary professions but only two of the primaries so chose wisely. You will gain lots of coin selling your special talents you pick, to others, not venders mind you, there are general prices that venders buy items off of you for, and the price the venders buy the items from you for is much lower then what you can get for them if you sell the items on your own to other players.

The more you use your profession the better you will become at it and the more specialized you will become to it. You can get so high that people will seek certain items only you and those of your level will be able to create for them, at this point you can name your price. Alternatively if you want to skip the whole having a profession thing then in my opinion you’re only other shot is questing. Taking adventure after adventure selling the spoils and keeping all the loot you find off of everyone you beat, the old fashion way. While the later might sound like a better road to travel since having a profession is just like real life, consider that fact that without that profession you might just end up a poor troll or sad Paladin in the world of WoW.

Professions and trade skills are not the only professions that can earn you cash, gold and money. You can easily farm large groups of mobs using area of effect spells or even kill high end bosses and mobs to acquire items of higher value. Using heavy tanks are often the key to killing strong single mobs while using a caster with an area of effect ability are able to kill lower level mobs but at larger quantities.

The Future of World of Warcraft

A look at why this game faces such a bright future in 2006 and beyond.
World of Warcraft is a landmark game and has been a sensation in its first year of release. As it proceeds through its second year, it is likely to continue its success and see its fan base become even greater. The game world of Azeroth is also set to grow, as a new game expansion is coming to enhance the World of Warcraft experience.

World of Warcraft’s challenge in 2006 will involve maintaining its success. When the game first came out, it wasn’t clear how it would perform. Blizzard Entertainment were confident in the game and had great hopes for it, but the gaming world was uncertain, wondering how well the traditional Warcraft elements would fit with an interactive online world. It actually worked brilliantly, and so the game took off.

Now the question is whether this is sustainable. It is extremely likely. By this point, it is clear that World of Warcraft is not simply a passing craze but rather a title with serious, long-lasting appeal. The game saw huge international growth in 2005 and in the early weeks of 2006 has already reached 5.5 million subscribers worldwide. The game has built up major momentum and it does not feel like it has peaked. Its sales are in great health, and more and more people are becoming interested in it.

World of Warcraft should see its subscriber base grow even further. It is impossible to predict the future, but it is plausible that it could reach a figure of 6 to 7 million subscribers in the course of the new year. It is important to consider that a number of countries received the game later than America, so there is much potential for growth, as in global terms it is a relatively new game. It was only in November 2005 that it launched in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, so to those markets it is still a fresh title.

The most crucial development for World of Warcraft in 2006 is the upcoming expansion, The Burning Crusade. This title will incorporate elements from a previous game, Warcraft 3, by including the former villains, the Burning Legion. It will add a new playable race to both the Alliance and the Horde, with the race of Blood Elves confirmed as joining the Horde. It is set to raise the game’s level cap to 70 and open up the area of the Outlands. The planned content and features look very promising.

It is interesting to consider how the World of Warcraft expansion will be received.
It should satisfy people, as it will offer growth and variety to the whole experience.
It will be fascinating to see what new race is joining the Alliance, and it will be intriguing and different for the Horde to have their own "pretty" race in the form of the Blood Elves. In general, the expansion is a good thing and will give the game more depth. It should make the game more appealing to players.

World of Warcraft will also see its influence grow in 2006. Its success has inspired the game industry to develop similar titles and explore where the role-playing genre can go. There are games in development that intend to follow Warcraft’s lead. The title "Borderlands" from Red Mushroom is one such example. This massively multi-player online role-playing game aims to refine its genre even further, by making the game play more competitive and ruthless. It will be interesting to see how it performs.

World of Warcraft has a lot to look forward to in its second year. The subscriber base for the game should grow, as it is now a genuine mainstream success. The expansion will be the most significant update to the game yet. It is clear that World of Warcraft will continue to prosper and will be around for a long time to come.

Girl Gamers in World of Warcraft

A look at the gender differences in the most popular online role playing game in the world.
To the dismay of much of the population of World of Warcraft, and the online community, girls do play video games. What makes a girl play a game online? Are they looking to pick up boys? Are they so socially inept that they can’t talk to anyone in the real world? Are they just plain ugly? Or are they really just a guy pretending to be a girl? None of these things are true. They play the game for the same reason everyone plays. They play for entertainment. Though women in the real life are striving for equality in a male dominated world, and arguably making progress, the ladies playing online games have a much harder task in front of them.

The exact ratio of female players to male players in WOW is not known, but it is a far lower number than in the real world. Roderick, of the Mal’Ganis Server estimates, "I’d guess I know maybe ten girl players on this server." Roderick ran a guild of over 200 people, that’s a staggeringly low percentage. With that sort of male saturation, girl gamers can have a tough time breaking into the "boys club" that exists beneath the surface.

The male population of the any online community, WOW included, is highly competitive, and the general feeling in an aggressive activity is that girls cannot perform on the same level as boys. On the virtual battlefield its far from true, but girl gamers are still considered underdogs and have to prove themselves worthy. They may come under harder scrutiny simply because they are female.

Because of the disposition some of the guys have on women gamers; some girls actively try to hide their gender. This isn’t hard, since according to Cezzani of Mal’Ganis, "Ninety percent of female characters are played by ten percent of the guys." Whether or not those figures are close to accurate, the point remains the same. There are enough girl characters running around WOW that a real female can hide her gender simply by not admitting to it.

Those that hide their gender do it for a reason, to avoid the stereotypes and sexual harassment. It may be due to the age or maturity of the individual talking to the girl gamer, or perhaps because there are seemingly no repercussions in an online community where you can log off and not have to deal with the consequences. WOW has a strict policy against any sort of threatening or hurtful communications that removes the anonymity from it. In severe cases Blizzard will revoke the players account, taking away their character and possessions. But the same problems that exist in the real world exist in the virtual world. Many of the women who go through the torture of this abuse will never report it.

The male gamers must learn respect for the female gamers. They are not there simply to pick up guys nor as part of the entertainment for male players. They don’t want to be hit on, or asked what they look like in real life. They will accept kindness, and will often times be friendly, but that is no indication that they are less of a gamer than anyone else who plays in a virtual world like WOW.

Wi-Fi networking is also built-in on the 40, 60 and 80GB models while a flashcard reader (which is compatible with memory stick, SD/MMC and compact flash/micro drive media) is built-in on 60 and 80GB models.

It was released in Japan in november 2007, while a spring 2008 release date has been scheduled for Europe and North America.

The playstation-3, at first, received generally unfavorable reviews like late, expensive and incompatible, but after a series of price drops and the release of several quality titles, the system has begun to garner better reviews. Their motor sport game is wildly popular and their list of games is getting larger and longer. With its cutting-edge technology, the high-end Sony playstation-3`s larger hard drive and ability to play playstation-2 games makes it a worthwhile alternative to cheaper models.

How to Make a Video Game Players Guide

So you play video games and maybe you are pretty good at them. Maybe you have thought about making video games but the task seems a bit daunting. If you have some ability to write and keep a lot of information organized you might want to try writing your own game guide. Here are some tips to help you write terrific video game guides.
If you are interested in the pursuit of making video games but don’t know where to start writing a game players guide is a good first option. It will give you a good understanding of the playability of games and how they are structured. You don’t have to be a great writer to create a great guide but you do have to know some basic rules. It will also give you some great insight and experience toward making your own games in the future.

Decide which type of game guide you are going to write

There are many different types of guides and the first thing you need to decide is which type you are going to write. There are four different types and the first type is the walk-thru. This is the most common type where you guide the player through a series of steps in the game. This could be a complete guide or just a guide to a certain portion or quest. The second type is the character guide, which explains many of the different skills, options, and abilities of a specific character type. The third type is the beginner’s guide, which helps beginners get familiar with a game, how it works, and how the interface operates. The fourth type is a performance guide, which helps players achieve certain levels and goals within a game.

Once you have decided which type of guide you are going to write you need to embark on the most important step of the process –you need to start a notebook and take notes. You might have a great understanding of the game but your reader doesn’t; and when writing your guide you may leave out small details that are simple for you but are not known by your audience. Take a lot of detailed notes and never make assumptions as to what the reader of your guide knows. If your guide is going to be long and complex you may want to use flowcharting techniques to help you understand the choices and decisions that are made in the game. Flowcharting is a great way to manage complex tasks with lots of decisions.

Get a Second Opinion

Another critical thing you should do when writing a guide is to get an impartial opinion from somebody else. This can be a friend, colleague, or even an anonymous person that you find on a forum or website. The important thing is that you have the person actually try to use the guide without you giving them any hints or tips. This person will give you feedback and tips about sections that were hard to understand or that didn’t seem to make sense. Consider any feedback to be the most important part of the process. It is easy for you to go through your guide –after all you did write it. But another person going through it doesn’t have the same understanding as you do. So get some feedback and make any changes that would clarify things for other players. An important thing to think about here is that if you have to explain anything at all to the test user of your guide then something needs to be fixed in the guide. It should be completely stand alone and understandable without you explaining anything. You won’t be able to explain things to all your readers right? If your test reader has questions you should write them down and incorporate your answers into the written version of the guide.

Some Final Tips

You should always write spoiler alerts at the beginning of your guide or at different sub-sections. Let the reader know that you are going to solve very specific problems and tasks in the game. Some people like the problems to be solved for them but many players like the challenge of figuring certain things out for themselves. By writing spoiler alerts you give your reader the option and the control over how he or she plays the game.

If you are attempting your first game guide you should consider doing a small one. Take on the challenge of only a small portion of the game or only a certain task or quest. This will help you build some writing skills and will help you avoid the discouragement of not finishing the guide. Writing a large guide can be a daunting task and it can be easy for you to give up on it. Start with a small guide and complete it so you get the satisfaction of having the project done.

Chances are that you are very passionate about a particular video game and you have a lot of knowledge about it. You probably enjoy playing the game a lot and by writing a players guide you can show off your expertise and get even more enjoyment by helping other people play the game. You don’t have to be a great writer to put together a great guide but you do need to follow some simple rules: keep the information organized, communicate clearly to your audience and get somebody to test your guide then pay careful attention to any feedback you are given.

The Dangers Of Online Video Games

Why spending countless hours playing video games online may not be healthy.
A buddy of mine plays a popular MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) nearly 24/7. He’s been doing this for over a year. During this time he’s gained weight, his grades have fallen significantly, and his social life is in ruins.

His justification is that he’s developing meaningful relationships on the internet with people from all over the world. He would argue that the relationships he’s developing in his virtual world will help him deal with people in real life. But are those online relationships real?

I would argue that they are not. Will his virtual friends be there for him when his car breaks down and he needs a ride at 1 A.M.? Will his virtual friends go out with him for a burger and a drink on Friday nights? Is his virtual girlfriend really anything deeper than a glorified pen pal?

What about his relationships with women? Part of developing your personality and character involves social interaction with members of the opposite sex. People need to date, fall in love, and have their hearts broken. This process enables both men and woman to mature and to figure out what their likes and dislikes are. You need to learn through experience what types of people you’re compatible with.

Some gamers would argue that the people that lock themselves in their rooms and play games 24/7 are a small minority. They would argue that most gamers limit themselves to playing only a few hours a week and that they lead rich lives outside of their game worlds. They would state that those addicted to MMORPG’s are a small minority.

But is that really the truth? MMORPG’s are designed to reward people for investing time into the game. Playing more enables them to rise to higher levels and gain better equipment. At the highest levels "Raids" take place where groups of players attempt to take out high level boss monsters. These raids can take many hours to complete.

There was a popular story published recently about a group of Final Fantasy Online players that spent 18 hours attempting to defeat a boss monster. They finally gave up when members of the group began to get physically ill in real life. Eighteen hours of playing a game non-stop! Does that sound healthy to you?

Players in most MMORPG’s must devote significant amounts of time to rise to the highest levels. Imagine if you spent all of those hours learning a skill, or studying for a degree? I know someone that spent over 700 hours in six months playing an MMORPG. That’s over 29 DAYS of playing a video game. Imagine if he’d spent those 700 hours playing a musical instrument, learning a programming language, or writing a novel? There are a lot of very worthwhile skills that you could master if you spent 700 hours doing them.

My advice to young people would be to stay away from online games that require huge investments of time in order to accomplish anything worthwhile in the game. Instead use that time to better yourself and enrich your life. Get out there and meet interesting people, develop a rich social life, and date!

Final Fantasy XI Character The Beastmaster Explored

An examination of one of the classes from the top-selling multi platform online role playing computer video game.
The Beastmaster is simply what it literally means, which is a master of beasts. It tames monsters and uses them for its own purpose. Creatures do not remain tamed forever though as the time you get to keep them is random. Beastmasters are not as powerful as Warriors, but they are very good for those who like to go solo or always hunt and go alone for they can tame monsters to come to their aid. The Beastmaster can use many different active abilities to tame and command its pets.

The Beastmaster's job revolves around their ability to tame monsters. A tamed monster becomes the Beastmaster's pet, following the Beastmaster around and attacking their foes upon command.

Beastmasters usually tame monster of equal or lower level. While Beastmasters at some times could time higher-level monsters, its unadvisable to do this for these monsters can return to their hostile and wild state or lose your control over it at unexpected times.

Beastmasters can command their pets to attack a foe. The pet will remain totally allegiant to the Beastmaster until (1) the pet dies (2) the maximum duration for control expires or (3) the monster breaks the spell.

The Beastmaster is an Extra Job, a job that must be quested for upon reaching level 30 before it becomes available to your character. As such, you will have a good working knowledge of the FF XI world by the time you are ready to attempt the Beastmaster Quest.

Switching to the Beastmaster job for the first time (just like switching to any other job for the first time) means that you start at level 1 in the job.

One of the main uses of a Beastmaster pet is as a Tank. Often, monsters attack the first thing that attacks them. This allows the beastmaster to have their pet absorb a large amount of the damage in a fight while simultaneously keeping their party safer.

To become a beastmaster make sure you have the right level required. You can now go to the lower Jeuno area and talk to the NPC named Dietmund, located at G11: merchant’s door. Click on the door and th character will come out and would ask you to get him some night flowers. Next go to Location F8 of Qufim Island. Walk down the small passage at the cliff and click on the night flowers. Remember that you could only obtain the flowers at night when it starts to glow. You can now go Back to Dietmund. There would be a cut scene, after this is finished talk to the chocobo house owner Brutus in Upper Jeuno to complete the quest. After all of this is doen you can now be a beastmaster at your Mog house.

Can Someone Make Real Money from World of Warcraft Gold?

To a gamer there are really two giant obstacles to leap over, one is having the money to play the games you want to play and the other is finding the time to play what you want, and sometime these problems collide and make things even more difficult.
I mean if you don’t have a job you don’t have money needed to play the games but on the other hand you have a job but you’re at it so much making money you don’t have the time you want to relax and play what you want to play. Massively multiplayer online role playing games(or MMORPG), add a bigger hop in the money problem , because many of them also require a subscription fee. Now most gamers, including myself, believe that the monthly fee is worth it, because the game is constantly changing and evolving almost as much as your character is. The only problem is now your shelling out even more dough for world of warcraft. Yes WoW, world of warcraft or WOW, is the "drug" of choice for many video gamers everywhere and I mean everywhere. Having up to 10 million subscribers this game is huge. Now, how does one who obliviously through no fault of their own gotten hooked to WoW deal with the two big problems? Well, I believe to every evil there is a good, or to every negative there is a positive, and that positive it forms of money and play time are just that money and play time. Making money from the gold you earn in the game.

How do you get money from World of warcraft gold? All you have to do is play and earn gold once you have a good amount of it, you announce that you will be selling it for real cash. What gold is used for in WOW is everything, or nearly everything. You use gold to buy mounts to ride weapons to fight with or even powers to use. You could walk around fighting if you wanted but you better not get hit because fixing your armor cost too. You go around asking people to pvp with you, which is player vs. player, but with no powers you’d most likely get ripped to shreds. Gold in the game is very important so important the game has professions for your character, which is a job for you character in the game you are playing in order to earn even more money.

To my knowledge there is no law that will punish or protect you from making money from handing over fictional money from one person to another, so if you are a world of warcraft citizen, and you’re getting started for cash, who knows maybe you, can get paid for doing what you really love, playing a video game. Keep in mind questing with out a good World of Warcraft quest guide can be difficult and really slow.

If the player spends the time playing the game thus creating the character and acquiring all the materials such as gold, platinum or whatever the currency may be for the time they should be entitled to the right to pass along their earnings to another player. Even if the player was not be able to physically own what they earned, they have at least earned the right to sell their services such as farming gold, power leveling and perhaps even questing.

Online Video Games - A World of Their Own

Online video games are one of the biggest growth areas in interactive entertainment and can give you a simulation of real life events and occurrences which may never take place. Traditional games do not present the same opportunities to interact with other people or form friendships, so most people who play these games by themselves spend less time playing them than those who are involved in multi-player games.
Online video games are one of the biggest growth areas in interactive entertainment and are mostly designed to acquire prospective clients. These games are considered to be excellent advertising strategies for video game businesses. These games are also free from deterioration. These games are not just restricted to ones based on traditional video games and are on our computers, televisions and even cellphones.GameFly is the leading online video game rental service in the United States and currently delivers the widest selection and availability of games for the Wii, Playstation 3, and Xbox.

Video games came along shortly after computers were created and have revolutionized the entertainment for many people. Video games that you can go online and connect with other people are very popular. These games are not necessarily just for children anymore, according to a recent AOL poll. They have become a part of our society and this is shown by how many people play them, kids and adults alike. These games were born over thirty years ago and they have been all over consumer’s TVs, computers and cell phones ever since.

Online games have thousands of users around the world and have become so popular in recent years that an alarming number of gamers have become addicted to them. Game playing combined makes up about three hours a week on average although this increases to 5 hours among younger adults age 18-34. Online video games and social networking sites both allow individuals to communicate even if in very different locations, both allow individuals to interact while hiding behind a computer screen, and both allow individuals to "friend" one another for future conversations. These games are becoming incredibly popular because they are easy to access, often free, and are reaching new heights in graphics and overall quality.

Playing an online video game can give you a simulation of real life events and occurrences which may never take place.

Because people are having so much fun, they tend to spend considerably more time playing video games online than they would
if they were the only player. Traditional games do not present the same opportunities to interact with other people or form friendships, so most people who play these games by themselves spend less time playing them than those who are involved in multi-player games.

Online games are far more popular among young male Internet users than among young females - and it's a global phenomenon. They are one of the best inventions of today's generation and are becoming increasingly popular, but they usually require a broadband connection either very good DSL or cable - so make sure a broadband connection is available if you're going to play on the computer.

Free Online Games: Changing the Child's Perception to Entertainment

Computer games are a wonderful invention of human beings and therefore are becoming one of the most popular pastimes for gamers of all ages. However, they are primarily popular to a great extent in the young customer section with lots of games enthralling the attention of kids.
Many inventions have changed many basic thoughts as well as perceptions in the activities of mankind and all of them have been completely responsible for making many of the aspects of human life(which seem so common now) into the regular feature of every human being's life.

The situation today witnesses free online games being in the major domain of attention and hence they are the latest in the chain of life turning events of human beings. The internet today, sees many websites involved completely in making free online games and most of the games that are being now made today have the technology of Flash behind their creation.

Flash is thus a technology which has changed the way games are being developed by introducing many advanced features in the field of gaming artwork, sound quality as well as fantastic speed of game performance. Hence this technology is used to create some of the most famous games which are featured in many gaming websites and all these websites see mammoth amounts of hits per day with gamers involved in playing these games all around the world.

Free Flash games are therefore capable of becoming easily accessible to the user as he only needs to type the required sentence in a search engine and get bombarded with lots and lots of gaming websites.

The target market for these games are mainly kids nowadays with increasing number of children getting aware/educated about the different online Flash games and hence playing them quite frequently.

Hence online kids games are now permanently made a major feature in most of the successful websites with creative and talented game developers involved in making brilliant as well as addictive games. These genre is now given special attention and hence the improvement in both versatility as well as performance is a fact which is quite real. Kids all over the world are involved in playing these games even if it is 4 am in the morning or 1 am after midnight.

There are many different types of free online games which have been made keeping the elements of childhood in consideration. Therefore the games that are made under this genre are quite simple to play yet very beautiful in terms of graphics and sound and also rich in terms of story (if the online kid game is an RPG (Role Playing Game).

Hence, any little child can have fun playing the game called 'Sunny Day'. In this game, the basic objective is to jump from vehicles with a umbrella serving as a parachute and making a smooth landing on any car following the main one. This is one of those free online games where the motive is simple but the game graphics is fantastic and the sounds are fabulous.

How The Secondary Market Erupted in MMORPGs

Buying gold, currencies accounts and items in massively multiplayer online role playing games has been popular since the release of EverQuest and Diablo 2.
Diablo 2 and EverQuest has been the earliest games in which players were able to trade gold, currencies, items, accounts, guides and even a power leveling service was introduced. EverQuest was the first massively multiplayer online game introduced while Diablo 2 was the first role playing game that supported a small multiplayer function through the Battle.net system. Both games provided a very unique coop play while Diablo 2 was the only game that offered some type of player vs. player function.

EverQuest was released on March 16th, 1999. The game itself is almost a decade old with over 5 different expansions along with a newer release of EverQuest 2. EverQuest 2 was released November 8th, 2004. EverQuest has been a popular game for lots of fans even as of today. EverQuest 2 players all have the desire of gold to purchase items that will enhance their characters and improve their game play with out having to spend that much time doing the boring stuff to get the gold. Even as of today, the original EverQuest is just as popular as many of the MMORPGs available now.

Diablo 2 was released on June 29, 2000. That is about 1 year after the release of EverQuest. If you’re wondering what happened to the original Diablo and why is it not listed is because the original Diablo did not have much support nor game play compared to the second release and at the point of the release of the game many players did not have efficient connections to the internet. Battle.Net has yet even become popular. In Diablo 2, gold contained absolutely no monetary value at all. There was not 1 highly demanded item that players can use to make trades, instead they had to barter in trade channels using what Diablo 2 items they have and what items players needed. There were a few items in mass quantities that were able to be used as a form of currency. These items were known as Stone of Jordan and the many different types of runes and charms in the game.

The gold and items were so difficult to obtain that there was a huge demand from players, especially those players who are not able to contribute as much time as others. This has created a high demand for the gold and items that were needed to enhance their character. They want to be able to play the game at the maximum level they can with their friends and others who are able to contribute more time. Because of this demand, many players has created either dupes or hired another gamer to do their farming and getting them the equipment and gold needed.

In Diablo 2, there were many bugs, loop holes, dupes and exploits that sellers have used to obtain these items of high demand. Farming them was simply just too difficult as the drop rate on some of these items were next to impossible. They have even created bots that will automatically move their characters and kill mobs or bosses and loot the items dropped. In EverQuest and EverQuest 2 these bots, hacks, dupes and exploits were banned quickly as there was a lot more staff watching over the game. This required the attention of low labor manual hack and slash grinding. Many Chinese players entered the market and provided the gold farming at low cost. Overtime more and more joined and the currencies has gotten cheaper and now everyone is purchasing them to save time in their life while yet being able to enjoy the game to the fullest.

On Being a Video Game Programmer – The Perks and Pitfalls

What is it like to work as a video game programmer? This article is a summary of some of the perks and pitfalls that I have experienced through my work at video game studios.
What is it like to work as a video game programmer? It is considered by many game-playing children to be a dream job. Is it actually as good as it sounds? It certainly is an interesting life. However, as with anything else on this planet, there are both positive and negative sides to working as a video game programmer.

For the last 7 years I have worked as a video game programmer at three development studios: Activision/Treyarch, Visual Concepts and DiscoPixel, a new startup company. I have published titles for the Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo consoles. This article is a summary of some of the perks and pitfalls that I have experienced through my work at these companies.

Perk #1 – Make Games!

This one is pretty obvious, but the biggest perk of working at a video game studio is that you will be MAKING games. You will be helping build the next great game that potentially millions of people will play and enjoy. There’s an amazing satisfaction that stems from knowing that you helped make something big.

Perk #2 – Play Games!

In addition to testing and improving your current game every day, you’ll also be playing games made by other companies. There are few jobs out there where sitting down and playing a newly released console title is considered research. Companies definitely want you to stay on top of the technology and features of new games, and the only way to do this is by playing lots of games. At the companies I’ve worked at, I’ve never seen anyone get reprimanded for playing video games during the day.

Perk #3 – Independence

A great aspect of working as a video game programmer is the independence you are given. It is rare that you’ll have a manager breathing down your neck or double checking everything you do. To get hired into a development studio you need to already have excellent programming skills, so you are given a lot of freedom to make many decisions yourself. You may be assigned a general task to complete, but how that actually should be done, as well as how long it should take, are often up to you.

Provided that you can get your work done, the companies I have worked for generally seemed to be very willing to let me work on my terms. When I was tired or bored or lazy I could go play a game or relax somewhere without anyone complaining. Happy employees with improved morale make better games.

Perk #3 – Fun Office Environment

Everybody that works at a video game studio has one thing in common: they love games. If they didn’t love playing games they would never have been hired to make them. Because of this, the office setting often has fun or quirky things anywhere you look. Many people bring strange new objects to show off or play with during the day.

Most video game studios have lots of games and toys lying around to keep its employees entertained. A few things that I have come across at various studios: Arcades with free coin-op games, foosball tables, ping pong tables, razor scooters, board games, action figures, puzzles, daytime basketball games and giant stuffed animals.

Coming to the office still means you’re going to work, but there’s no reason why it can’t also be fun.

Perk #4 - Free Soda + Snacks

This perk is maybe not important to everyone, but it’s nice to know that you won’t go hungry working at a video game studio. I’ve never met a video game company that hasn’t offered free soda and snacks as part of the benefits of working there. I suppose being loaded up on caffeine and sugar helps boost productivity. During long days at the office, companies will typically provide free dinner as a thank-you for staying late. One company I worked for served fully catered meals from assorted restaurants every night for many weeks.

Pitfall #1 – Long Work Hours

Making video games is a lot of work. The amount of time needed to make the latest game seems to be growing exponentially. Development teams continue to get bigger and bigger every year, yet somehow the amount of work per person doesn’t seem to get any smaller. Games are very complicated. Also, the nature of games is that they must be fun, which is not always so easy to accurately pencil into a schedule. A lot of experimentation is needed, especially with new game concepts.

Before a milestone and especially a few months before a game is released, the work day will be very intense. The work has a way of very quickly piling up. New features and old bugs suck away all of your time. Working long nights or weekends is not uncommon. Fortunately, employees generally care about the games that they are making, and their passion helps energize them through these occasional long shifts.

The stress can get overwhelming, too. At one company I had a giant stack of bug reports waiting for me on my chair when I came into the office. I would work all day, scrambling to fix the bugs as quickly as possible, working on full blast all day and night. I’d go home for a couple hours of sleep, but when I’d return to work there would be a new, even larger stack of bug reports waiting for me.

Typically after a project has shipped there will be a period of downtime where the employees can get a chance to relax and recover. The work load will suddenly significantly reduce. One company gave bonus vacation time after a project shipped, and another put employees "on call" for about a month, in which they only had to come to the office if there was some kind of problem. It’s nice to know that your long work hours do not go unnoticed.

Pitfall #2 –Choosing What to Work On

Working on your own video games in your free time is a lot of fun. You get to choose exactly what game and tasks you want to work on, focusing only on the fun stuff. Anything boring can be safely ignored since the only audience is you. Unfortunately, this is not the case for large video game studios. There are many tasks to be completed, some of which are not too glamorous. Fixing console manufacturer standards violations or building data tools is not very exciting, but it still needs to be done by someone in order to ship the final product.
These tasks typically are given to people who are just starting out in the video game industry, perhaps as a rite of passage, but probably just because nobody else wants to do them.

In addition to the possibility of working on less glamorous tasks, you could be assigned a project that you are not fully interested in. Typically the company will let you work projects that interest you, but this is not always possible. A particular project could be falling behind schedule and it needs a few more employees to fix some bugs or add some new features. Or, the project you are interested in already has enough workers.

I think that the passion of the employees working at a video game studio is crucial to the success of that game. If you are not excited about what you’re working on, it will show up in the game you’re creating. To avoid any misunderstandings or letdowns, before deciding to work at a particular company, it’s important to find out what game you will be working on in addition to what tasks you will be assigned.

Pitfall #3 –Pay Not as Good (Maybe?)

I’ve heard from a few people that the pay working as a video game programmer is not as good as the pay working at more conventional companies. Business database programmers, for example, could be earning more money. This could be true. However, choosing your profession is not just about the pay. You spend a large percentage of your life at your job. Money is not everything. Choosing something that you enjoy is important, too.

I thought the pay at the companies I have worked at was very reasonable. There is also a large potential upside from royalty checks coming from a game that sells well, which has sometimes turned out to be significant. You will definitely not be living as a pauper if you get a programmer job at a video game company.

I hope that this article has been helpful towards learning a little bit about working as a video game programmer. As with everything in life, there are pros and cons to this profession. If what you have read sounds good to you, I hope you find that dream job making the next great bestselling game.

How to Become a Video Game Programmer

Helpful tips for getting a job as a video game programmer.
For many, working as a video game programmer at a famous development studio sounds like a dream job. You get to design and build fun new games all day. Here are some tips for making this dream a reality.

Know what you’re getting into

Before you dive into becoming a video game programmer, spend a little time to research what working at a video game studio actually entails. You don’t want to spend time and effort becoming a video game programmer only to realize that it’s not what you were hoping for. Working as a video game programmer takes a lot of effort. The work hours and deadlines can get stressful, especially near the end of a project. Talk with people who are in the video game business, either in person or online, about any questions you may have about the business.

Create your own games

Try your hand at making your own games at home to see what it’s like. You can start with simple projects first, such as basic text games or simple shooters. Grab a book on video game programming at your local bookstore (there are many to choose from) and dive in. C and Java are good programming languages to start out with. Don’t try to create something too big or you’ll quickly get overwhelmed. The purpose of this is to learn what it’s like to make games and get a little experience, not to develop the next award winning MMORPG. Development studios will be more likely to hire you if you have a good project or two that you can include with your resume.

Go to college

Currently video game development studios are hungry for programmers. They spend a lot of money using headhunters to help them locate new people to hire. The good news is that once you are in the video game business, there are many opportunities for companies to work for. There are many different projects and locations that you can choose from. The bad news is that the studios can be very picky about hiring new employees with no previous video game programming experience. Therefore it can be very hard to get your foot in the door. Going to college for a Computer Science degree and getting excellent grades is one of the best ways to show video game studios that you will be a competent and committed employee. The classes will also give you many of the skills that you need to work. There are schools now that specialize in video game degrees, such as DigiPen. They are still relatively new and it’s not clear whether they increase your chances of getting a job in the video game industry.

Play Games

Know your games! The video game industry is changing at a breakneck pace, so it’s important to stay up to date with the new products. Play many different games every month to see what companies are doing now with video games. Development studios want to make sure that they only hire programmers that are devoted to video games. Staying up to date with videogames is an excellent way to demonstrate this.
Good luck!

Tips to install Mod Chip on your Playstation2

Tips to install Mod Chip on your Playstation2

Before you plan to a thrilling PlayStation2 gaming console, learn a few simple tips on how to install the mod chip on your PS2 system.
PlayStation2 is a fine gaming console. It is slim and light-weight which enables the gamers to carry it around wherever they travel.

PlayStation2 amazes its users with its built-in Ethernet and modem ports which essentially mean that the users can take advantage of the online gaming as well. What makes PlayStation2 a phenomenon among the game addicts around the world is its ability to push the realm of entertainment with features that bring the gamers to the unpredictability of live competitions.

Millions of PlayStation2 are connected online almost every time; this basically means that the gamers have always someone to play against. The best part, however, is its ability to combine friction, gravity, and environmental elements to create astoundingly real physical simulations offering its users an experience of a life time. With the help of high-resolution 3D graphics, DolbyDigital AC3, and DTS sound capabilities, the entire experience of video gaming takes the users to a new zone.

If you are video game addict, PlayStation2 is the ultimate gaming console for you. Any serous gamer would swear by it and shell out anything to own it. However, you should know the ins and outs of using the PlayStation2 gaming console before it is ready for the game.

Generally, users of PlayStation2 ask about the installation of Mod Chip. Although, it is not too hard to install a Mod Chip on your PlayStation2, you need to have a little hands-on knowledge on electronics and soldering iron. Alternatively, you can buy one of those pre-modded PlayStation2 systems that are easily available online. Usually, pre-modded PlayStation2 systems cost a little higher due to the fact that they come with a life-time warranty on the installation.

In any case, if you want to install the mod chip on your PlayStation2 system all by yourself, the following tips would be immensely helpful to you.

Use the right chip:

There are 16different versions of playstation2 model available and each of the model require unique type of Mod chip. for installing the right Mod chip into your playstation2 first find out the version that you are using. You can make a search in Google to find the PS2model numbers and the chip compatible with it. or else you can purchase the universal PS2 Mod chip that works well with any version of PS2.

Use right soldering iron:

While installing the PS2 Mod Chip you have to solder a small section of the motherboard. For that you need a soldering iron that has a small, fine tip. The soldering iron that is rated at 15 watt will provide enough heat for soldering without hurting the PS2 console.

Use solder with flux in it:

Many people do the mistake of buying flux separately while buying solder. But it may lead to unwanted use of flux and you may have to re-solder it in later date. But a solder with a flux helps the solder to attach to the wires and the solder points.

Use short wires:

While using Mod chip you are actually transferring the data and information to the motherboard of the PS2. It will be better if the data or information are covering less distance. If you are installing the Mod chip to the PS2, keep the wires as short as possible o avoid complexity.

Use 15 AWG wrapping wire:

The installation of the Mod chip into a PS2 console is sometimes spoiled due to the mere problem of choosing the wrong kind of wrapping wire. If the wire is too thick it may create difficulty while attaching it without touching any other part. The 15 AWG wrapping wire is the ideal one for the purpose.

Xbox360 Repair - Less than 30 Minutes
Xbox360 repair can be frustrating if you do not have the proper instructions or tools to guide you. Your Xbox360 is without doubt, one of the precious possessions that you are proud of, but it is not infallible.

An Xbox360 repair can be done by yourself and in the convenience of your own home. Make sure your system is clean and is getting proper airflow. To improve your system airflow, trying blowing compressed air into the perforations located on the back and sides of the system.

If that does not work and you are feeling more adventurous, you can disassemble your Xbox360 and further inspect it for damage. However, you should be aware that this form of Xbox360 repair would void your warranty.

Xbox360 Repair Quick Steps:

1. Unplug the power and AV cables and open your console. Do not forget to unplug the console...seriously.
2. Disconnect your DVD drive and remove it from the chassis.
3. Disconnect and remove your fan and fan shroud from the chassis.
4. Lift out your circuit board from the chassis.
5. Remove the x-clamps.
6. Remove your heat sinks, the studs from the heat sinks and clean the thermal paste off of the CPU, GPU and heat sinks.
7. Put thermal paste on CPU and GPU.
8. Put the x-clamp kit screws and washers (these replace the x-clamps and studs) into the circuit board.
9. Screw the heat sinks in place with the x-clamp kit screws.
10. Put the circuit board back into the chassis.
11. Connect the DVD drive and the fan. Do not snap the fan back in place yet. Place the fan face down (stickers down) with one fan over the CPU and one over the DVD drive. Reconnect the power and the AV cables. Turn on the Xbox 360 for 15 minutes and let it overheat. After 15 minutes turn the console off and let it cool down for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes turn the unit back on and you should be rewarded with green lights.

An Xbox360 repair should always be a "do it yourself project" since if you turn the Xbox 360 to Microsoft for repair your wait time would be 4-8 weeks.

Internet Gaming Tips for Newbies

By: Paul Wilson

Internet games use the cyber world technology for playing. Games are extremely popular and constantly evolving.

There are:

  • Games played using e-mail.

  • Games played on a browser window by using a web address.

  • Games played using Internet Relay Chat, Telenet, MUD client, or a Web based forum.

  • Games that are graphic need stand-alone software that permits players to play with or against one another using an Internet connection.

The first game, MUD, was developed in 1978, and the market has burgeoned since then.

To play, one needs:
  • A reliable Internet connection.

  • A personal computer or game console.

  • Selected software required by specific games.

One can play simple board games like scrabble, or bingo, or games like poker, mahjong, and pool. Another popular category is simulation games-these imitate real-life situations and cover aspects like combat, city planning, strategies, as well as flight simulation.

For serious gaming the computer performance must be optimized. This can be done by:
  • Running the disk defragmenter and organizing the computer files. This should ideally be done once a month at least.

  • Correct folder and file errors by using scandisk---use once a week and the computer will give trouble free performance.

  • Clean your hard drives-get rid of Internet files, temporary files, as well as files in the trash/recycle bin. Clear the cache and uninstall programs that are not in everyday use.

  • Update the operating system software. Download any new security patches. Keep video drivers updated.

  • Clear space on the hard drive---store files on a back up system.

  • Clear any spyware you have inherited from websites.

  • Minimize number of programs running-when playing a graphic intensive game if there are too many programs running simultaneously the graphics will become choppy and game will be slow.

  • Delete add on game files-wall papers and other paraphernalia will just clutter the computer.

  • Run an anti-virus program regularly but disable it when you are loading/playing games. Antivirus programs slow down games.

  • Always shut down the computer properly.

The Internet allows gamers to compete with people across oceans, on the other side of the world and anywhere in the universe. Some use PCs while others use consoles. What you use is a personal choice and depends on issues like costs and so on.

Before you buy a game you must:
  • Consider "system requirements" - some games can run on systems that are not exact others need specific hardware.

  • Find out if the game is single player or multi-player. Many games need the Internet-and, the broadband connection is more efficient than the dial-up connection. Many like Xbox Live only work on a broadband connection.

  • Find out if the game can be played using a mouse/keyboard or whether it will need a full-featured joy stick.

Be wise and try a demo before making an actual purchase. Playing a demo benefits the player as well as game developer. Many online games offer free trial periods - beta testing is a great opportunity to find out if the game suits your taste as well as pockets.

Do your research thoroughly-usually there are several games competing for players within a genre. Read game reviews before taking the final step.

New to Gaming - Flash Gaming Sites

By: Paul Wilson

Whew! According to Computer Gaming World, there are 80 gazillion free Flash games sites in the cyber world.

Popular sites are:

  • www.games.yahoo.com - this has card games, word games, arcade games, as well as puzzles. The number of violent games is limited so the site appeals to the "old-young" -those who are young at heart.

  • www.shockwave.com - a popular site with original games as well as PopCap ones. One can do a jigsaw here everyday.

  • www.addictinggames.com - has free games that are updated every week-Friday. The site has action, arcade, puzzle, as well as sports games.

  • www.arcadetown.com - has Flash games, java games, downloads and more.

Since Flash offers many advantages to developers as well as players, many games are designed using Macromedia Flash. It is by far the best game platform and has incredible features.

In an industry that's evincing exponential growth, Flash has become the universal and popular choice for multimedia intensive web sites. Flash, singly crosses most barriers-
  • It supports complicated and wonderful graphics.
  • Allows download of files via the Internet.
  • And is compatible with playback devices.
In the world of Flash enabled games the hosting system is the web server itself. Flash enables web sites to host animated as well as interactive movies and games. There is no paraphernalia required. All that is needed is to download the game itself. The costs are minimal and not recurring.

To play on the web all that is required is: a web browser, a Flash player, and the Internet. Flash is the universal plug in needed to play games. It is installed on every PC with Windows XP and Mac.

Playing online can be fun and most games can now be played by many players from all round the world. Just keep in mind:
  • That there are players who cheat at games. Look for PunkBuster software on the server, this detects cheats who try and gain unfair advantages.

  • Play with others who have credibility and are accountable for their actions. Many online sites need verified log ins, they are actively managed gaming environments. This is a better choice for safe gaming.

  • Create a select group of friends and use the broadband server to host a private gaming server.

  • Do your research thoroughly. Seek safe and high quality gaming sites.

Gaming is in its golden phase and is set to reach new heights. Innovation, new business models, and unprecedented growth is expected to open new avenues in gaming.
